Earth Day Publishing News

Here are some Earth Day publishing tid-bits:

  • MySpace publishes a real world book aimed at teens for environmental awareness called MySpace/OurPlanet.  Printed on recycled paper with soy ink, the book intends to impart easy things everyone can do to help care for the environment.
  • The Montreal Gazette celebrates a one year mark since it compiled its own Report Card on their environmental impact.  How have they done? "For starters, we've solved a problem that many readers drew to our attention last year: the plastic bags your newspaper comes in when it's wet outside. Starting July 1, we will subsidize our carriers to switch to biodegradable bags."  Great start!
  • Print, the graphic mag, has a list of cool activities and actions taken by companies to reduce their carbon footprint: My1Stop.com, Fort Scott, KS, an online printing superstore, announced it was certified as “Greenified” by the Green Business Alliance, Boca Raton, FL, and it will unveil new eco-friendly products tomorrow at http://www.my1stop.com.   Grand River Printing & Imaging, Belleville, MI, will hold an Earth Day event titled “Print and Sustainability” at the Detroit Zoo Ford Educational Center.  and more, at the article.
